FRA will convene the constitutive meeting of a new Civic Space Monitoring Network. The Network will bring together over 40 organisations that regularly monitor the civic space in Europe along a dedicated methodology. This includes EU institutions, international organisations, EU-level civil society umbrellas and national civil society, as well as National Human Rights Institutions and ENNHRI.
Building on its expertise and long-standing work in this area, FRA was asked in the EU Strategy for Civil Society to establish such a Network, to provide a platform for exchanging data, experience, and good practices on civic space monitoring.
On the basis of a concept that was developed between FRA and key partners, the meeting will discuss objectives and next steps for the Network.
The meeting takes place from 29 to 30 September in Brussels.
