Cross-border support
Free movement within the EU leads to an increase in the number of individuals becoming a victim of crime in a Member State other than their own.
In such cases a single Member State or service provider may not be able to fully guarantee all rights of the victim, requiring cross-border cooperation and specific accommodation of victims who are non-nationals. The table below offers an overview of some issues relating to cross-border victim support, including the location in which crimes can be reported, whether the main support service provider is a member of a cross-border network, and the languages in which information is provided by support services.
| Victims can report crimes in their own country if the crime was committed in another state | Main generic victim support organisation maintains formal contact with victim support organisations in other countries | Information is available to victims in different languages by victim support services | |
