The conference focused on the legislative package under the EU’s new Migration and Asylum Pact one year on and various legislative proposals.
FRA highlighted key fundamental rights implications of the legislative proposals. FRA contributed to two panels. One concerned the proposed new rules for processing new arrivals as well as asylum claims and returns at the borders. The other focused on the envisaged border monitoring mechanism under the draft Screening Regulation.
The Odysseus network organised the conference in collaboration with the Belgian Royal Institute for International Relations. It ran from 9 to 10 September in Brussels.
Migration and asylum experts, EU and national policy makers, international organisations, academics and NGO representatives attended.
