Racism and ethnic discrimination in sport have increasingly become a public issue in European sport over the past decades. This report examines the occurrence and different forms of racism, ethnic discrimination and exclusionary practices in sports, focusing on different sports and levels of practice in the EU.

This report focuses on the views of Europe's employer organisations, trade unions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) concerning the application of the Racial Equality Directive (2000/43/EC) in practice, with a sole focus on the area of employment.

The report "Muslims in the European Union: Discrimination and Islamophobia" published presents available data on discrimination affecting Muslims in employment, education and housing.

"Manifestations of Antisemitism in the EU 2002 - 2003" details manifestations of antisemitism in the EU over a two-year period from 2002-2003 using data available by October 2003 and proposes policies to counter it. The second report, "Perceptions of Antisemitism in the European Union" provides snapshot interviews with members of the Jewish community. The main report shows that there has been an increase in antisemitic incidents in five EU countries, (Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK). Those incidents ranged from hate mail to arson. In some other countries there has been little evidence of increase in antisemitism.

Suite aux inquiétudes exprimées par de nombreux milieux à propos de ce qui
semblait être une augmentation importante des actes d’antisémitisme dans
certaines régions de l’Europe, en particulier en mars/avril 2002, l’EUMC a invité
les 15 points focaux nationaux de son réseau d'information sur le racisme et la
xénophobie (RAXEN) à prêter une attention particulière à l’antisémitisme dans le
cadre des activités de collecte de données du réseau. Ce rapport exhaustif constitue
l’un des résultats de cette initiative. Il représente la première opération de collecte
systématique de données sur l’antisémitisme dans l’Union européenne, à l’aide de
lignes directrices communes pour tous les Etats membres.
