The survey will collect the views and experiences of people fleeing the war in Ukraine. It addresses a wide range of issues related to their stay in the EU, including access to employment, education, housing, healthcare, language learning and other issues affecting their social and economic integration. It also asks people about their experiences of discrimination and violence. The survey will target people living in ten EU Members States: Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.
Since 24 February 2022, the European Union has experienced a mass influx of people fleeing the war in Ukraine. In response, the European Council activated the Temporary Protection Directive for the first time providing minimum protection standards. At the same time, volunteers and civil society organisations, including faith communities and churches provided humanitarian aid. The survey explores how those fleeing the conflict experienced the assistance provided to them and seeks to identify the problems they face. The findings will support policy makers to further develop and target their responses.
The survey will collect data through an open online survey. The survey is managed by FRA in cooperation with the FRANET network in the countries covered. To reach the eligible respondents, awareness-raising activities both before and during the open online survey will be carried out. FRA will publish the findings of the survey in 2023.
The survey is currently open and can be completed in English, Ukrainian or Russian.
