In Brussels on 7 September, FRA presented the outcomes and follow-up priorities of the fifth European Conference on Antisemitism to the Council of the EU’s Working Party on Fundamental Rights, Citizens’ Rights and Free Movement of Persons (FREMP).
FRA highlighted how national human rights institutions, equality bodies and ombudsperson institutions can combat antisemitism through improved monitoring and recording, practical application of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, education, cooperation with Jewish communities, and responses to online and AI-mediated hatred.
FRA also exchanged views with the European Jewish Congress and the European Jewish Association on religious discrimination, Holocaust remembrance, security concerns and underreporting.
In a separate meeting with the European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, FRA’s further cooperation in combating antisemitism was discussed.
