He spoke about lessons learned for the functioning of courts, and for the judicial review and scrutiny of Covid-19 emergency measures. He cited evidence collected by FRA for its Covid-19 bulletins and the focus chapter from its Fundamental Rights Report 2021.
He also spoke about combating hate speech and hate crime for a more inclusive and protective Europe. He highlighted the extensive evidence collected by the Agency that shows persistently high levels of under-reporting of hate crime and hate speech. He addressed the further implications in regards to victim’s rights and their access to justice and gave concrete examples on how to strengthen cooperation between the criminal justice system and civil society.
