FRA contributes to discussions at EU Migration and Asylum Pact contact committees’ meetings

FRA took part in the latest meeting of the Schengen Borders Code Contact Committee that discussed the Screening Regulation as well as in a joint meeting of the Contact Committees for the Asylum Procedure Regulation and the Asylum and Migration Management Regulation.

These committees provide guidance for the implementation of three key EU law instruments adopted under the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

The meetings took place in Brussels on 28 April and 6 May, ahead of the new EU laws becoming applicable mid-June 2026.

FRA presented recent developments in its work, supporting the fundamental rights-compliant implementation of the EU Pact. These include follow-up activities to its 2024 guidance on setting up independent national monitoring mechanisms, its contributions to the EU cycle of asylum and migration strategic planning, through the relaunch of its migration bulletins, its new publication on operationalising the Pact via lessons learnt from the hotspot approach, the ongoing update of the asylum law handbook, as well as its ongoing work on child protection and guardianship for unaccompanied children.
