Presentations by the European Commission, FRA and ILGA-Europe set the scene. These were followed by national experiences from Ireland and Spain, which illustrated how whole-of-government approaches, cross-cutting policies and early involvement of local and regional authorities can translate legal obligations into tangible improvements in safety, inclusion and equality for LGBTIQ people.
The seminar showcased practical guidance and tools supporting policy implementation, including the Guidelines for Strategies and Action Plans to Enhance LGBTIQ Equality and the related monitoring checklist.
ILGA Europe highlighted the importance of systematic collection and easy access to such resources across Member States to strengthen peer learning and coherence.
The event brought together around 45 Council delegates from the Social Questions Working Party and the Working Party on Fundamental Rights, Citizens’ Rights and Free Movement of Persons (FREMP) at the Representation Permanent of Cyprus in Brussels.
