Migration steering group discusses fundamental rights at external borders

In a meeting on 5 February, FRA introduced its project on data collection on fundamental rights at external borders in 18 EU Member States and candidate countries.

The aim of the data collection is to provide FRA with information and data to describe the fundamental rights standards at external borders.

The meeting was under the Steering Group for the development of a Situational Awareness, Early Warning, and Forecasting Capacity Development Project.

The European Commission leads the steering group. It meets regularly, together with other Commission services, such as the Joint Research Centre, EU Justice and Home Affairs agencies, including FRA, and international organisations.

The aim of the steering group is to develop a tool for early warning and forecasting of migratory flows.
