The meeting was attended by representatives of civil society and guardianship authorities from 12 Member States and the European Commission.
During the meeting, participants discussed existing challenges for guardianship for unaccompanied children, specifically in regards to North African children. It also raised awareness of promising practices, such as the creation of guardianship advisory boards formed by young migrants.
The creation of a European Network is one of the actions envisaged under the 2017 Commission Communication on the protection of children in migration.
