Next week in Brussels from 28 to 29 January, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) will take part in the European Commission’s foresight process, led by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Secretariat-General.

This work feeds into the Commission’s annual Strategic Foresight Report, which helps shape EU policy priorities and long-term thinking on the Union’s future in a rapidly changing global context.

The workshop will focus on identifying key areas where the EU can exercise leverage across different future scenarios and in relation to major global actors. This will support efforts to strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy, credibility, and capacity to act on the global stage.

Building on its ongoing foresight work, FRA will underline the importance of building on the EU’s strong legal framework, which enables the EU and its Member States to promote prosperity and equality, while safeguarding democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental rights.
