FRA will present its work on 8 April on assessing fundamental rights risks of artificial intelligence at ERA’s 2025 Annual Conference on Artificial Intelligence Systems and Fundamental Rights.

The EU’s plans to set up centres in non-EU countries (so-called ‘return hubs’) must respect fundamental rights law, warns a new Position Paper from the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). The paper sets out the safeguards that need addressing under EU law before establishing such hubs. These include compliance with fundamental rights, securing legally binding agreements to protect people’s rights, and setting up independent human rights monitoring systems.
On 5 February, FRA experts will exchange views with Human Dimension experts from the EU Delegation to International Organisations in Vienna and EU Member States Permanent Representations to the OSCE.
Challenges, promising practices and lessons learnt in mainstreaming human rights into programmes and project lifecycles was the focus of an expert meeting on 30 January. They also discussed future directions in mainstreaming human rights and the human rights-based approach locally, while addressing global challenges and the need for innovation.
On 31 January, there will be a study visit to FRA from the Council of Europe’s new Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Standing Rapporteur on Human Rights, Gudrun Mosler-Törnström.

On 30 January, FRA will host an expert meeting on mainstreaming human rights into programme and project lifecycles, from initiation and planning to executing and closing as well as monitoring and control.

FRA’s Director Sirpa Rautio's introductory remarks at the international conference on ‘Denial, distortion and disinformation: the truth about the Holocaust 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz’. The Polish Ministry of Justice organised the event. It takes place on 29 January at the Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

A FRA online information tool aims at raising awareness of the fundamental rights implications of the EU large scale IT systems for migration and policing. A new paper from the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) reveals a fragmented approach to addressing the impact of climate change on fundamental rights. The paper argues that a systematic application of fundamental rights standards and obligations in EU climate policy could more effectively advance a just and inclusive transition.
