A high-level conference on institutional protection of fundamental rights in times of crises will take place in Lund from 20 to 21 April. It will provide a forum to discuss how structures to protect fundamental rights in the European Union can be made more robust and resilient in times of crises. The event aims to explore what can we learn from crises, past and present, and how can we best move forward. The event will be live streamed.

FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty opens the high-level conference on Protection of Fundamental Rights in times of Crises in Lund on 20 April 2023. His keynote speech explores the various facets of today's human rights system and suggests ways forward to further uphold human rights across Europe.
FRA will participate in the annual conference of European Criminal Law Academic Network (ECLAN).

FRA Director, Michael O'Flaherty, spoke during the second high-level meeting on antisemitic hate crime: European Conference on Antisemitism in Vienna on 17 April. He underlined the resurgence of antisemitism and reminded participants of the urgent need to tackle anti-Jewish hatred but also to honour and celebrate Jewish life. In his speech he outlined how this could be achieved.
FRA participated in the EU Asylum Agency’s (EUAA) third High-Level Roundtable meeting on judicial developments in the field of the Common European Asylum System.
FRA attended a conference organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on ‘Civil society organisations defending and strengthening European democracy’.

FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty set the scene at the high-level conference on LGBTIQ Equality in the EU on 12 April 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden. His speech focuses on the experiences of LGBTIQ people and highlights what needs to be done to achieve LGBTIQ equality across Europe.

In August 2022, the nine EU Agencies cooperating within the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies’ Network published a joint paper on how they have been supporting EU Member States and institutions in responding to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine and helping people affected and displaced by the war.
On 30 and 31 March, FRA participated at the International Public Information Directors Roundtable in Stockholm.
FRA joined the Spring Academy of the Asser Institute on AI and international law on 28 March.
FRA held a hybrid meeting with NHRIs and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) from 21 to 22 March. FRA also invited its National Liaison Officers and EU Charter Focal Points.
