Dans l’Union européenne, un musulman sur deux est confronté au racisme et à la discrimination dans sa vie quotidienne, une proportion en forte augmentation depuis 2016. Les femmes, les hommes et les enfants musulmans sont ciblés non seulement en raison de leur religion, mais aussi en raison de leur couleur de peau et de leur origine ethnique ou immigrée. Les jeunes musulmans nés dans l’UE et les femmes portant des vêtements religieux sont particulièrement touchés. Telles sont quelques-unes des conclusions du dernier rapport de l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA).

On 1 October, FRA took part in a meeting of European Platform for Roma Inclusion. It spoke about monitoring national Roma frameworks, the use of indicators and setting of targets as well as about the progress in carrying out its Roma survey 2024.

The workshop co-organised by the European Commission and FRA brought together civil society organisations to discuss the findings of the FRA report 'Being Muslim in the EU' and the challenges they face in combating this form of racism.

On 10 October, FRA contributed to a discussion on the EU’s migration and asylum pact organised by the Council of Europe Special Representative of the Secretary General on Migration and Refugees. The meeting was part of the Council of Europe’s Coordination Group on Migration.
FRA presented its updated guidance on monitoring fundamental rights during a Contact Committee meeting on the Asylum Procedure Regulation organised by the European Commission.
On 10 October, FRA held an expert meeting at its premises in Vienna on impact assessment of high-risk AI systems. The event gathered representatives from the European Commission, international organisations, civil society and academia.
Sirpa Rautio
FRA Director Sirpa Rautio addresses EU Affairs ministers from Member States during the EU General Affairs Council meeting organised by the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting took place on 15 October in Luxembourg. She fed into discussions on the fight against antisemitism, the EU declaration on fostering Jewish life and combatting antisemitism, and how FRA can help with its evidence-based advice.
FRA took part in three meetings on setting up the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, ETIAS. The meetings took place from 1 to 3 October in Warsaw.
