Over 60 key actors working on civic space monitoring, promotion and protection in Europe will come together at FRA to discuss civic space monitoring. From 16 to 18 September, they will discuss the overall landscape and who is doing what with respect to monitoring.

The experts will represent EU institutions, international organisations, civil society organisations, NHRIs, academia and donors. They will exchange know-how and experiences covering definitions, monitoring methods, strengths and gaps of the existing tools and processes to ensure coherence and synergy between the different actors’ work.

The participants will discuss ideas and possible avenues on how to further contribute to an enabling environment for civil society actors across the EU.

This follows up on key reports such as the report on A thriving civic space to protect fundamental rights and the Agency’s own work and its regular monitoring of the situation

The discussions will feed into FRA’s future work on civic space and lead to a new momentum for cooperation and coordination amongst the participating organisations.
