She will exchange views with the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers’ Rapporteur Group on External Relations. She will use concrete examples from the 2025 Report on the cooperation between FRA and the Council of Europe.
The discussion will focus on how to further strengthen cooperation between FRA and the Council of Europe, and exchange views on current and future priorities. Christos Giakoumopoulos, independent member appointed by the Council of Europe to FRA’s Management Board, will also provide an update about his activities in this role.
FRA’s Director will also have bilateral meetings at the Council of Europe, including the Deputy Secretary-General, Tanja Gonggrijp, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty, the Director General for Human Rights and Rule of Law, Gianluca Esposito, the Jurisconsult of the European Court of Human Rights, Anna Austin, the Secretary-General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Mathieu Mori.
The meetings will focus on discussing ongoing strategic cooperation and future priorities, including the Vienna Forum for Fundamental Rights and Democracy which will take place on 2-3 March 2027 in Vienna.
She will also meet the Head the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Alexandre Stutzmann, and the Heads of the EU Missions to the Council of Europe.
