FRA will contribute to the conference ‘30 Years of Fighting for Human Rights – From Institutions to the Community’ in Brezice, Slovenia on 14 October. FRA will provide opening remarks and take part in a panel discussion on human rights under scrutiny – violence, accountability, and deinstitutionalisation.
FRA will focus on its findings on Member States’ implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD) and the remaining challenges in deinstitutionalisation.
In addition, FRA will co-lead the parallel session on the right to safety, physical and mental integrity, addressing how institutional settings can foster violence and why deinstitutionalisation is essential to preventing violence against people with disabilities.
