The seminar will bring together Member States representatives from two Council Preparatory Bodies: the Working Party on Fundamental Rights, Citizens’ Rights and Free Movement of Persons (FREMP) and the Social Questions Working Party. FRA will present key findings from its EU LGBTIQ Survey.
It will highlight progress made across the EU as well as persistent challenges, including rising hate and violence, particularly online, and the continued vulnerability of intersex people and young LGBTIQ people. ILGA-Europe will contribute to the discussions, and two Member States will share promising practices.
During the seminar, Member States participants will exchange views on national action plans, inclusive policymaking and measures that work in practice and what more can be done nationally and at the EU level to strengthen equality, social inclusion and participation of LGBTIQ people.
The seminar will contribute to the Cyprus Presidency’s priorities and will inform ongoing Council work in FREMP and Social Questions working parties.
