Capacity building on safeguards for children in criminal proceedings

FRA held a webinar with CEPOL for law enforcement officers and prosecutors when in contact with children who are suspected or accused of crime.

The goal was to learn about different types of procedural safeguards to ensure children can effectively take part in criminal proceedings. Topics were based on FRA’s procedural safeguards report which looked at the practical implementation of the EU’s related Directive.

The event took place online on 11 October.

The webinar is part of FRA’s capacity-building activities to make justice in the EU more child-friendly. It draws on its research such as the perspective and experience of children involved in judicial proceedings and minimum age requirements.
