FRA contributes to enlargement fundamental rights consultations

On 19 and 21 May, FRA experts will contribute to the consultation on the 2025 Enlargement Package on issues related to fundamental rights. The consultation will focus on issues such as anti-discrimination, gender equality, children, LGBTIQ, people with disabilities and transitional justice.

It will bring together representatives from the United and the European Institute for Gender Equality.

The Agency will provide evidence about fundamental rights in FRA observer countries. To date, three EU candidate countries participate in the work of the Agency as observers: Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia. Ukraine, Montenegro and Moldova have applied for this status.

The Agency’s activities on enlargement serve to assist candidate countries with their gradual alignment with the EU fundamental rights laws.

The Agency also works on the fundamental rights situation of displaced people in the EU who have fled the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The European Commission organises the consultation.
