Seminar on ICT standards and human rights

On 14 April, FRA spoke at a panel on how to ensure that ICT standards uphold human rights. FRA highlighted some key findings from its recent report on Assessing high-risk AI relating to fundamental rights risks awareness and impact assessments in practice.

It underlined the importance of standards for the integration of fundamental rights considerations and a high level of protection into new technologies from the outset.

The intervention was part of a seminar on Human Rights and ICT Standardisation, which took place in Brussels and online.

The European Commission organised the seminar, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The EU-funded projects StandICT.eu 2029, INSTAR and InDiCo Global supported the event.
