The EU is founded on the values of democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights. Yet these values, and discussions on fundamental rights at the EU and Member State level, can seem remote in people’s daily lives. With this in mind, FRA’s Fundamental Rights Survey explored what people understand, know and experience with respect to their fundamental rights in practice.
FRA’s report on artificial intelligence and fundamental rights presents concrete examples of how companies and public administrations in the EU are using, or trying to use, AI.

The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) welcomes the amendment of its founding Regulation, adopted by the Council of the EU today following a proposal by the European Commission and the consent by the European Parliament. The revised Regulation strengthens the Agency's mandate and introduces a number of technical amendments. These will allow FRA to even better promote and help protect the fundamental rights of all people across the EU.

FRA presented its EU LGBTI Survey results during a National Pride event in Finland on 30 June. The Finnish Ministry of Justice, Department for Democracy and Public Law, Autonomy and Equality organised the event.
FRA contributed to the annual training event on EU border management. The European Law Academy (ERA) and the European Coast and Border Guard Agency (Frontex) organised the event. FRA was part of a session on fundamental rights shared with the new Frontex Fundamental Rights Officer.
On 23 June, FRA jointly with the Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency delivered an awareness raising session on Search and Rescue at sea for staff from the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA).

FRA, the French Equality body (Défenseur des droits) and the French NHRI (Commission nationale consultative des droits de l'homme - CNCDH), will hold a round-table discussion to jointly launch the results of FRA’s Roma and Traveller Survey in France.

On 7 July, FRA will launch a new report on encouraging hate crime reporting during the EU high-level group on racism. The group serves as a platform to support EU and national efforts to prevent and combat hate crime and hate speech.

The FRA Director will attend the informal meeting of the Council’s Standing Committee on Operational Cooperation on Internal Security (COSI) on 8 July.
FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty and the Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić agreed and exchanged letters on further developing cooperation for the European Union Fundamental Rights Information System (EFRIS). EFRIS brings together data about the acceptance of human rights treaties as well as assessment by monitoring mechanisms.
FRA’s Director Michael O’Flaherty will meet Matteo Mecacci, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, in Vienna on 5 July. They will discuss how to further strengthen cooperation between FRA and ODIHR and exchange views on respective current and future priorities.

Dies geht aus einem neuen Bericht der Agentur der Europäischen Union für Grundrechte (FRA) hervor. Viele Opfer bringen Übergriffe nicht zur Anzeige, weil es zu schwierig ist oder sie der Polizei nicht vertrauen. Die FRA fordert die EU-Staaten auf, die Anzeige von Hasskriminalität zu fördern, deren Erfassung zu verbessern und dafür zu sorgen, dass den Opfern Unterstützung, Schutz und Gerechtigkeit zuteilwerden.
