FRA conducted an online survey to identify how lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people living in the European Union experience the fulfilment of their fundamental rights.
The EU LGBT survey was a large-scale empirical data collection exercise using an online questionnaire as its main instrument. The questionnaire was online between April and July 2012. The research method chosen – online questionnaire and sampling through selfidentification of the respondents – provided a number of advantages and strengths, as well as limitations and constraints, both of which need to be taken into account when reading the survey results.
