Mehr Roma und Traveller in der EU sind nun erwerbstätig, und auch ihre Wohnverhältnisse haben sich verbessert. Jedoch sind Armut, Diskriminierung und Segregation nach wie vor weit verbreitet. Dies geht aus einer neuen Erhebung der Agentur der Europäischen Union für Grundrechte (FRA) hervor. Die FRA betont nachdrücklich, dass zwischen den EU-Zielen zur Inklusion der Roma und den gelebten Erfahrungen der Roma- und Traveller-Gemeinschaften nach wie vor erhebliche Lücken bestehen. Es ist unwahrscheinlich, dass die EU-Staaten die Ziele bis 2030 erreichen werden.
Current and newly-appointed Members of FRA’s Management Board gathered for the first time in Vienna from 18 to 19 September. It marked an important step in the forward-looking interim assessment of the Agency’s Strategic Plan 2023–2028.

FRA will join discussions at an expert hearing of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) on 23 September about the upcoming EU Civil Society Strategy.
FRA spoke during the concluding panel of the European Rule of Law Conference 2025 in Berlin that ran from 15 to 16 September. It was part of the Re:constitution project and brought together legal practitioners, policy consulters and experts across disciplines discussed for two days to discuss how to best address the ongoing democracy and rule of law crisis in the EU.

FRA will join an EU RIGHTS CITIES project workshop in Zagreb from 29 to 30 September. The EU RIGHTS CITIES project aims to raise awareness and support the effective implementation of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights at the city level in the EU.
On 2 October, the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) will visit FRA as part of their regular cooperation activities with the Agency. 36 judges, prosecutors and court staff will participate in the study visit.
FRA will speak during the cybersecurity technical workshop in Brussels on 1 October.
On 16 September, FRA spoke at a seminar held by the Slovakian National Human Rights Institution.
On 17 September, FRA will contribute online to an EU-funded project workshop on the use of the EU’s Fundamental Rights Charter in the Spanish legal system.
FRA will present selected results of the EU gender-based violence survey at a conference on 17 September in Vienna. The University of Vienna and UN Office on Drugs and Crime are organising the event.

The FRA Scientific Committee met on 5 September at the Agency in Vienna. It elected Gentian Zyberi as its new Chair and John Morijn as Vice-Chair. Both will serve a one-year term.

On 9 September, FRA gave online training on fundamental rights in connection with the use of biometrics at an event on vulnerabilities in automated border crossings at Rome Fiumicino airport.
Intersexuelle Menschen in der EU sind im täglichen Leben Gewalt, Belästigung und Diskriminierung alarmierenden Ausmaßes ausgesetzt. Dies geht aus dem neuen Bericht der Agentur der Europäischen Union für Grundrechte (FRA) hervor. Viele Intersexuelle wurden zu „Umwandlungsmaßnahmen“ oder medizinischen Eingriffen gezwungen, was eine schwere Verletzung ihrer Grundrechte darstellt. Die FRA fordert die EU-Länder auf, die besonderen Bedürfnisse intersexueller Menschen zu berücksichtigen, um sie vor Hass, Diskriminierung und erzwungenen medizinischen Eingriffen zu schützen.

Das neue Brüsseler Verbindungsbüro der Agentur der Europäischen Union für Grundrechte wurde offiziell eröffnet. Dies ist ein wichtiger Schritt zur Verbesserung der Zusammenarbeit der FRA mit den Organen der EU, den Ständigen Vertretungen der Mitgliedstaaten in Brüssel, europäischen Dachorganisationen der Zivilgesellschaft und anderen Interessenträgern mit Sitz in Brüssel.

FRA will contribute to the first session of the UN Human Rights Office’s open-ended intergovernmental working group that will explore a draft optional protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It will look at the rights to early childhood education, free pre-primary and secondary education.
