Discussing the protection of Ukrainian children

FRA participated in a plenary meeting of the Council of Europe’s Consultation Group on the Children of Ukraine in Strasbourg from 14 to 16 April. Council of Europe member states, the European Commission, the UN Refugee Agency and representatives of civil society attended the meeting.

The first two days of discussions focused on key protection and solutions-oriented issues, including the unlawful deportation and illegal transfer of Ukrainian children, access to education, child protection concerns, possible return procedures, and challenges related to transitioning from temporary protection. 

The third day was fully dedicated to technology‑facilitated violence affecting children. 

FRA shared information about its guardianship work and key highlights from its survey on violence against Ukrainian women and protecting children on social media – Views on age limits, contributing evidence on emerging risks and patterns relevant to the protection of children and their caregivers.
