National Independent Monitoring Mechanisms under the EU’s Pact on Migration and Asylum will come together on 11 June. They will be part of an online meeting organised by FRA, the Frontex Fundamental Rights Officer, the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) and the Council of Europe.

One day before the entry into operation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, the meeting seeks to assess the state of play in formally establishing Independent Monitoring Mechanisms across Member States. Participants will share their plans and discuss the human and financial resources needed for the mechanisms to fulfil their mandates efficiently and independently. FRA has developed methodological guidance which it will share to support the monitoring work at national level. The meeting will also look towards establishing a European platform where participants can exchange their experience.
