Rights of victims of violent crime during immigration and pre-trial detention

FRA took part in a regional policy meeting of about 70 experts from EU Member States and international organisations on rights of victims of violent crime suffered in immigration and pre-trial detention.

Over two days, participants discussed gaps and challenges in the practical implementation of the existing victims’ rights framework for victims of violent crime suffered in pre-trial and immigration detention.

FRA provided relevant input from its work in the areas of criminal detention conditions and victims’ rights in particular.FRA also informed participants about the publication on 27 September of its report ‘Rights in practice: access to a lawyer and procedural rights in criminal and European arrest warrant proceedings’.

The meeting was organised by Fair Trials and Redress. It took place in the Hague from 26 to 27 September.
