How can energy renovations be leveraged to ensure the right to housing for all in the EU? How can equal treatment and non-discrimination be effectively reflected in policy – and in implementation on the ground?

On 29 January 2026, FRA will host a public event online to discuss key takeaways from its upcoming report 'Fundamental rights and housing in the EU’s climate and energy transition'. Policymakers, civil society, practitioners, and other experts will consider challenges and opportunities of the just transition. They will discuss promising practices for the fundamental rights compliant design and implementation of decarbonisation, energy-efficiency renovations and energy poverty responses.

Stakeholders and the wider public are warmly invited to join and explore solutions for a human rights-based approach to energy transition in the EU.
