Rights of Roma and Travellers in 13 European countries - Perspectives from the Roma Survey 2024

This report examines the fundamental rights and living conditions of Roma and Travellers across 10 EU Member States and
3 accession countries. The survey evaluates progress towards the EU Roma strategic framework’s 2030 objectives, covering areas such as discrimination, poverty, education, employment, health, and housing.
Overview

The report highlights the likelihood of achieving EU-level goals and provides detailed country-specific insights. Since 2008, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has been publishing surveys on Roma and Traveller communities, and this report builds on that long-standing body of work documenting the challenges they face.

In this report:

  1. Manifestations of antigypsyism: discrimination, harassment and violence
  2. Poverty and social inclusion
  3. Reporting discrimination, awareness of rights and trust in public institutions
  4. Education
  5. Employment
  6. Health
  7. Housing

Findings Q & A

The latest Roma Survey from the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) aims to evaluate whether EU and national Roma inclusion policies have improved Roma and Travellers’ access to their fundamental rights in the last 10 years.

The survey compares results with previous FRA surveys and assesses whether EU countries are likely to meet EU level goals set in the EU Roma Strategic Framework on equality, inclusion and participation.
