The Spanish Ministry of Equality hosted the visit in Madrid. It focused on Spain’s equality data ecosystem, including racial or ethnic origin, LGBTIQ, disability, housing, and hate crime data.
The joint meeting addressed mapping equality data ecosystems, the roles of National Statistical Institutes, and collaboration with equality bodies and civil society.
Major take aways for Member States attending the meetings included the need to continue investing in legal frameworks, capacity building, and inter-institutional cooperation. Prioritising participatory approaches, especially with affected communities, enhancing the use of technology and AI with robust safeguards also featured.
Another key point raised was fostering regular reporting, knowledge sharing, and public accessibility of equality data.
