The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU has invited FRA’s Director to address the EU Council’s Working Party on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Brussels on 9 October.

The Director will give a presentation on the fundamental rights dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the EU and exchange views with national SDGs Focal Points.

FRA will focus on how to effectively integrate a human rights-based approach to SDG planning, implementation, monitoring and review. It will particularly look at equality, non-discrimination, and ways of identifying and reaching those at risk of being left behind, highlighting the importance of disaggregated data.

FRA will present findings from its publication ‘Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in the EU: a matter of human and fundamental rights. It will share examples of its relevant statistical data and other evidence, for example on violence against women, inequalities and discrimination affecting migrants and minorities.
