Workshop on hate crime in Belgium

On 14 and 15 January, FRA, together with the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), facilitated a workshop for law enforcement officers and officials responsible for (hate) crime registration in Belgium.

The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the need to properly record hate crimes, to identify gaps in existing hate crime recording and data collection frameworks.

Furthermore, practical steps were discussed on how to improve these frameworks, and how to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable hate crime recording system.

FRA has already conducted eight of these workshops with more planned for other Member States this year.
