FRA introduces its GDPR work to European Data Protection Board

On 14 March, FRA introduced its research on the experience of Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) when enforcing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at the European Data Protection Board’s plenary meeting.

The research was conducted in view of the European Commission’s second evaluation of the GDPR, which is planned to be published in 2024.

Between 2022 and 2023, FRA conducted 70 interviews with the heads and staff members of all 27 DPAs. It collected the experiences, challenges and promising practices identified by DPA experts when implementing the GDPR.

FRA’s report on ‘Data Protection Authorities: Challenges and opportunities in implementing the GDPR after 6 years of application’ will be launched in June 2024.
