FRA speaks at a workshop on civic space and threats to democracy

The EU’s European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held its ‘Civil Society Week’ in Brussels from 4 to 7 March. The flagship event gathered people of all ages and backgrounds, including youth, journalists and EU institutions, for a vibrant debate.

FRA was present with a book stand and took part in one of the workshops.

The workshop was dedicated to the links between shrinking civic space and the state of play of democracy in the EU. On the panel were civil society organisations, representatives from the European Parliament, the European Commission, the EESC and FRA.

The agency pointed to its findings as it emerges from its reports and the regular monitoring of developments regarding civic space.
