6th annual Fundamental Rights Platform meeting, 25-26 April 2013, Vienna

Over 200 civil society organisations took part in the FRA's Fundamental Rights Platform (FRP) in Vienna on 25 and 26 April 2013.

The FRP meeting allows civil society and FRA to discuss emerging fundamental rights issues, exchange knowledge and share good practices.

In his opening address, FRA Director Morten Kjaerum highlighted the importance of the Fundamental Rights Platform in bringing to FRA an unfiltered voice from European society from civil society organisations. “I cannot think of any other place where all these different parts of the … of the human rights architecture meet – not only in greater numbers, but also in greater depth in terms of quality – as we have seen over the years in this platform . (…) The Challenge is really to find the coordination" he says "how we can actually complement each other (…) to increase the fundamental rights protection in the EU."

FRA Management Board Chairperson Maija Sasklin also informed participants that the Management Board “sees the need for FRA to increase its visibility and relevance at the national level. This is also where many of you work and are active, and where we can best support you and help you with your fundament rights work.”
