It brought together around 60 children, civil society, European and national representatives from all over Europe. Children jointly moderated the event.
It covered how to increase children's participation in the EU and help shape the future work and functioning of the platform.
FRA is an Advisory Board member of the Platform.
The event was also an opportunity for FRA to update the EU Network on Children’s Rights on its ongoing mapping of child protection systems in the EU. FRA also gave a brief overview of its other current projects dealing with child protection. This included its upcoming bulletin on the fundamental rights of children displaced in the EU following the Russian war of aggression and report on local efforts for people displaced from Ukraine.
FRA also referred to its Fundamental Rights Report 2023, in particular its focus on the fundamental rights implications for the EU of the war in Ukraine. This contains findings on the protection of unaccompanied children.
