The network brings together 30+ youth councils from across Denmark, who represent youth in political decision-making within their municipality, work to secure youth welfare and promote opportunities for youth within their community. A group of young people will visit Vienna to exchange experiences and share best practices with their Austrian counterparts.
The programme will include panel discussions on how to best include youth segments in political decision-making, peer-to-peer workshops to enable knowledge exchange, a visit to FRA and the House of the European Union and a meeting with Austrians Members of Parliament.
In the second half of 2025 Denmark assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. One of Denmark’s core objectives during this time will be to motivate youth from all segments of society to engage in politics - from the local to the European level. Young citizens constitute an integral element in the safeguarding and development of democracies and are also expected to play an important role in upholding democracy in Europe.
The Danish government is funding trips by Danish youth organisations to travel to other EU member states to enable them to engage with their peers.
