Why was the practice needed?

The broader aim is to collect first-hand information about the great social transformations that have interested the new generations in recent years. In 2021 a special edition of the survey will be carried out to collect information about the impact of COVID-19 on the everyday life of young students.

The present survey derives from a survey on educational and social integration of second-generation foreign children carried out in 2015.

How was it implemented?

The survey was conducted in 2021 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and with the involvement of Unicef.

Unicef organised focus groups and workshops with young students in order to finalise the questionnaire. In this way, children and young people are an active and conscious part of the statistical process.

The National Statistical Institute will produce reports, tables and e-books about the social situation of children and young people, sharing the results of the survey with the principal national stakeholders, and the dissemination process will also involve schools and students.
