En rendant juridiquement contraignante la Charte des droits fondamentaux de l’UE, le traité de Lisbonne renforce le cadre législatif de la non-discrimination. L’UE est désormais tenue de combattre la discrimination, y compris celle fondée sur l’orientation sexuelle, dans toutes ses politiques et activités.

Police stops and minorities: understanding and preventing discriminatory ethnic profiling
When used as an investigation technique in the context of law enforcement, ethnic profiling is often referred to as “criminal profiling”. This type of profiling uses indicators such as physical features, appearance or behaviour to give a “suspect description”. Profiling becomes unlawful when it is discriminatory.

A fair asylum procedure is one where applicants know their rights and duties, and where they understand its different stages. The right to be informed at decisive moments of the procedure is an important element of procedural fairness. Drawing on evidence from interviews with almost 900 asylum seekers, this report examines the information that asylum seekers have on the asylum procedure. In particular, it looks at the main source of information for asylum seekers, which type of information they receive, and when and how they receive it.
