Public authorities information session on FRA support to EU Migration and Asylum Pact

FRA held an information session for public authorities on FRA’s work to support the rights-compliant implementation of the EU’s Migration and Asylum Pact.

The presentation included FRA support in setting up of national independent mechanisms to monitor fundamental rights compliance when screening new arrivals and examining asylum claims in border procedures.

FRA gave an overview of its FRA guide on independent national monitoring mechanisms. FRA also spoke about other tools it plans to update. These include its handbooks on European law relating to asylum, border and immigration and on guardianship

FRA also talked about how its fundamental rights-related information and data will contribute to the asylum and migration strategic planning and to crisis situational reports.

The session brought together more than 115 representatives from ministries and other public authorities of 21 countries. It took place online on 7 November.
