Muslims in Europe face ever more racism and discrimination

One in two Muslims in the EU face racism and discrimination in their daily life – a sharp rise since 2016. Muslim women, men and children are targeted not just because of their religion, but also because of their skin colour and ethnic or immigrant background. Young Muslims born in the EU and women wearing religious clothing are especially affected. These are some of the findings of the latest report from the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).

Antisemitism in the EU

FRA Director Sirpa Rautio addresses EU Affairs ministers from Member States during the EU General Affairs Council meeting organised by the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting took place on 15 October in Luxembourg. She fed into discussions on the fight against antisemitism, the EU declaration on fostering Jewish life and combatting antisemitism, and how FRA can help with its evidence-based advice.

FRA guidance on independent border monitoring presented at ODIHR stakeholders meeting

FRA presented to Polish stakeholders key aspects of the nine building blocks of its new guidance on independent monitoring mechanisms under the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. The FRA guidance is based on and gives effect to the EU Screening Regulation which obliges Member States to set up such independent national mechanisms by mid-2026.
