On 9 July, FRA attended a meeting organised by the European Commission with EU Member States and relevant EU Justice and Home Affairs agencies to discuss the European Annual Asylum and Migration Report.
FRA took part in the launch event for the EEA and Norway Grants Civil Society Fund in Romania on 2 July in Bucharest. Over 250 representatives of civil society organisations, public institutions, donors and the business sector convened to learn about the Fund, which will provide close to €54 million for civil society.
On 9 July, FRA joined a guided tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, and contributed to an expert panel on innovative approaches to Holocaust remembrance and education.
FRA delivered a presentation on EU law safeguards to prevent and address labour exploitation among non-EU workers during a training seminar. FRA’s focus was on the practical implementation of safeguards by labour inspectors, drawing on the key recommendations of FRA’s Manual for Labour Inspectors.
Representatives of Jewish communities, national coordinators and special envoys on combating antisemitism, civil society organisations, governments, EU institutions, National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) and equality bodies met in Vienna last week to discuss current challenges, Member States’ actions and European Commission initiatives under the EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life.
Many legal practitioners on the national level in Member States still fail to invoke the EU’s Fundamental Rights Charter consistently. Even when they do, they often struggle to follow through to timely and effective implementation of court rulings.
The 2026 European Commission report on the application of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights will focus on the role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), Equality Bodies and Ombuds institutions in upholding and promoting the Charter.

FRA’s Director Sirpa Rautio carried out a country visit to the Netherlands between 16 and 18 June. She had bilateral meetings with Pieter Heerma, Minister for the Interior and Claudia van Bruggen, State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice.
