The next Internet Governance Forum (IGF) takes place in Berlin from 25 to 29 November.

The IGF was set up as an open discussion platform of the United Nations for key legal, political, social and technical issues relating to the internet.

FRA will co-organise two sessions with the Council of Europe. The first will focus on the human rights issues associated with hate speech online and discuss how to develop effective tools to respond to the threats it poses.

The second will discuss the respective obligations of states and responsibilities for private actors regarding the protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of AI and machine learning systems.

Online participation is possible for both sessions. FRA will also have a stand at the IGF village
