Procedural safeguards for children in criminal proceedings discussed with German stakeholders

FRA met with German stakeholders in Berlin to discuss FRA findings on how to best move forward with the implementation of the EU Directive on procedural safeguards for children in criminal proceedings.

On 6 October, FRA gave a keynote speech at an expert conference on the newest developments in juvenile justice. Paritätische Gesamtverband, a German welfare association, organised the event.

On 7 October, FRA held a workshop together with the SToP- Projekt. The project supports children in conflict with the law. They also acted as gatekeepers to reach out to children for the FRA study. Building upon the FRA findings, professionals identified current challenges and developed next steps to ensure that children can make better use of their procedural rights in criminal proceedings.
