FRA spoke about the fundamental rights opportunities and risks that AI can bring in law enforcement, using live facial recognition technology as an example. It drew on FRA’s work on artificial intelligence and on EU IT systems in migration and asylum. It pointed to the risks related to data protection, the right to asylum, non-discrimination, freedom of assembly and freedom of expression, child rights and the right to effective remedies. The Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU co-hosted the event.
