On 11 and 12 May, FRA spoke at the meeting of Special Envoys and Coordinators on combating antisemitism (SECCA), and contributed to the meeting of the World Jewish Congress.

We – The Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna, and the diplomatic missions of Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), European Investment Bank (EIB), UN-Globe and the Diplomatische Akademie Wien – Vienna School of International Studies - all welcome 17 May as the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), to reaffirm the equality and dignity of LGBTI persons, and to stand firmly against all discrimination and in particular to oppose the criminalisation of consensual same-sex relations which is contrary to international human rights law.

Human rights are universal and apply equally to all people everywhere. That is why today and every day we work to address the ongoing discrimination against LGBTI persons globally.

FRA presented its report on ‘Violence against persons with disabilities in institutions’ to the Irish Parliament’s Joint Committee on Disability Matters, in a dedicated session on 6 May on freedom from exploitation, violence and abuse for people with disabilities.

FRA spoke about the impact of climate change on children and their rights at an online conference on 29 April on climate rights for children in Europe. FRA stressed the need towards a fundamental rights-compliant European Green Deal that calls for citizens’ active participation, including children, as child participation is also an important part of Integrated Child Protection Systems.
