The paper examines why many incidents of racism and discrimination concerning Roma are not reported, and highlights the perceived level of understanding among the Roma community of their rights under the law and their understanding of mechanisms for redress. The dataset used in the paper is taken from the recent European Union Minorities and Discrimination Survey (EU-MIDIS). Analysis is confined to the dataset.
