The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is set to move to its new headquarters in a building shared with the European Patent Office (EPO) in Vienna. Today, FRA Director Sirpa Rautio and EPO Vice President, Nellie Simon signed the agreement that formalises FRA’s upcoming relocation to Rennweg 12.

FRA’s new headquarters provides a modern workplace designed to ensure reduced environmental impact and the wellbeing of staff and visitors. Its energy‑efficient systems, open workspaces and smart building features make for a low‑carbon, people‑centred and transparent office environment.

The building holds three awards for its sustainable renovation concluded in June 2025. It meets strict environmental and energy‑efficiency standards and holds the highest BREEAM rating in the DACH region (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) – a benchmark for sustainability standards.

The move underlines FRA’s commitment to future-oriented and climate‑responsible operations. We look forward to opening the doors to our new headquarters later this year.
