FRA’s Director will present FRA’s report on violence against people with disabilities in institutions to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the opening of the Committee’s 34th Session.
The Handbook on European law relating to the rights of the child illustrates how relevant law and case law accommodate children’s interests and needs. Recognising children as full-fledged rights holders, it is a key reference on both EU and Council of Europe law.
On 24 February, FRA joined a technical meeting on Roma inclusion and empowerment as part of the programming process for the EEA/Norway grants in Bulgaria’s Local Development Programme.
Pavee Point and FRA held a national launch of Roma survey 2024 results for Ireland on 4 February in Dublin.
On 26 February, FRA addressed the opening panel of the conference TACTICS for Change: Systemic strategies for coordinated responses to domestic violence.
A round table conversation with experts into what the freshly released EU gender-based violence survey report tells us – not only about the prevalence of violence against women, but also about the impact, systems and solutions. The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) will moderate.
FRA Director Sirpa Rautio will speak at the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting in Brussels on 6 March. She will speak about the Conclusions on the application of the EU’s Fundamental Rights Charter.

FRA will join online a Eurostat working group meeting that takes place from 4 to 5 March. This is the annual meeting of the Eurostat working group on crime and criminal justice statistics.
The European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) is hosting an online knowledge café on 4 March. The webinar will foster a dialogue among several actors and promote actionable pathways towards preventing violence in institutional settings, improving support quality, and transitioning to inclusive and rights-based community services.
On 19 February, FRA gave a presentation on the EU gender-based violence survey and its approach to collecting data on access to justice.
On 19 February, the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU invited FRA to the Council Working Party on Schengen Matters, where it provided input relating to fundamental rights to the discussion.
FRA took part in the OECD Innovative Citizen Participation Network meeting, a sub-group of the OECD Working Party on Open Government, on 18 February in Paris.
On 11 February, FRA attended the Hungarian opening event of the EEA Civil Society Fund in Budapest, gathering 200 NGO representatives. The meeting was organised by the fund operator consortium: Ökotárs Foundation/ The Hungarian Environmental Partnership Foundation (lead), the Carpathian Foundation-Hungary and the Autonomia Foundation.
Les nouvelles conclusions de l’enquête de l’UE sur la violence fondée sur le genre révèlent une grave réalité : la violence à l’égard des femmes est très répandue, de plus en plus numérique et négligée par les institutions censées la combattre et la prévenir. La violence conjugale, la violence psychologique, la violence économique et la cyberviolence comptent parmi les formes les plus répandues, mais souvent les moins reconnues. L’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA) et l’Institut européen pour l’égalité entre les hommes et les femmes (EIGE) demandent instamment à l’Union d’aligner sa législation, ses politiques et ses pratiques sur les expériences vécues par les femmes. L’ampleur des violences non signalées montre que les systèmes ne fonctionnent pas correctement.
Les femmes qui fuient la guerre d’agression menée par la Russie en Ukraine sont victimes d’abus, de harcèlement et d’exploitation, selon un rapport d’enquête de l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA). Une femme sur quatre déclare avoir subi des violences physiques ou sexuelles depuis le début de la guerre. Certaines font état d’humiliations physiques ou sexuelles par les forces armées russes lors d’interrogatoires. Une femme sur quatre a reçu des propositions de travail, de logement ou de transport pouvant relever de l’exploitation, et une sur deux affirme avoir été agressée physiquement ou verbalement dans l’UE pour avoir parlé ukrainien. Le rapport suggère des solutions pour répondre au mieux aux besoins des femmes victimes de conflits armés afin de leur permettre de reconstruire leurs vies.
